PROJECT MEMBERSHIP
Terms of participation and project rules
These terms govern admission to the European Fruit Dove Project, the rights and duties of project members and the use of the internal project area.
1. Scope and admission to the project
The European Fruit Dove Project is a professionally focused project community and is not entered in the German register of associations. These terms apply to all persons and institutions applying for admission or already approved as project members.
Submitting an application does not itself establish project membership. Membership begins only after the project management has expressly approved the application following a review of the information provided and the applicant’s professional connection to the project.
2. Commencement, duration and termination of membership
Project membership is granted for an indefinite period. It ends when the member withdraws or when the project management terminates membership.
A member may withdraw at any time by sending an informal email. If contributions remain unpaid or if project rules are seriously or repeatedly breached, the project management may, after reviewing the individual case, first suspend access and subsequently terminate membership.
3. Project contribution and payment deadlines
Participation in the European Fruit Dove Project is subject to an annual project contribution of EUR 15.00 for each calendar year.
The first contribution becomes due upon admission and must be paid within the deadline stated in the approval notice. In subsequent calendar years, the contribution must be paid by April 1, 2026.
The full annual contribution is payable regardless of the date of admission. No pro-rata calculation or reduction is made, even where admission takes place near the end of the calendar year. Contributions already paid are not refunded on a pro-rata basis when membership ends.
4. Duties of project members
By joining the project, members undertake in particular to
- report their current fruit-dove population completely and accurately at the beginning of each calendar year,
- report the offspring of the preceding calendar year at the beginning of each calendar year,
- offer fruit doves intended for transfer within the project before placing them externally,
- keep contact, population and origin information up to date and respect the rights of other members and authors.
5. User account and use of the internal project area
The user account is personal and must not be shared with third parties. Internal project information, messages and contact details may be used only for the purposes of the European Fruit Dove Project.
Access to the internal project area may be temporarily suspended in the event of security risks, contribution arrears or breaches of the project rules.
6. Population, offspring and origin records after membership ends
After membership ends, the user account and personal contact data are deleted once they are no longer required for the original purposes and no legal retention duties or legitimate documentation interests prevent deletion.
Population, offspring and origin records may continue to be retained in pseudonymised form where this is necessary for certificates of origin, breeding planning, population continuity or documented professional enquiries. The protected link to a former person is accessible only to a narrowly limited group of authorised project officers. Further details are provided in the privacy policy.
7. Applicable version and evidence of acceptance
Version 1.1 dated July 9, 2026 applies. Material changes, in particular to the project contribution, reporting duties, payment deadlines, access restrictions or the use of project data, may require renewed acceptance.
For evidence of acceptance, the project records the accepted version, the time and language of confirmation, the project contribution applicable at that time and a checksum of the relevant text.
8. Privacy, further information and contact
Questions about these terms or project membership can be sent to the project management via the European Fruit Dove Project contact page.
Further information on the incorporation of pre-formulated terms is available in section 305 of the German Civil Code. Information on data-protection rights is published by the Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information.
