Since 2007, the European Fruit Dove Project has connected private breeders, zoos and bird parks that work with fruit doves in human care.

Fruit doves are admired for their colours, calm behaviour and close connection to tropical habitats. Many species are affected by the loss of rainforest habitats in their native ranges. In European collections, dedicated keepers and zoological institutions can help preserve experience, knowledge and sustainable breeding lines.
The project brings together species profiles, stock records, breeding reports, price recommendations and contacts in one place. This creates a practical overview that supports the exchange of birds, experience and project contacts.
